I'm Baaack!!!

We are home! And I missed everyone!!! I have lots of blog-land catching up to do. We left last night around 8:30pm and got home about 12:30am.

We had a great time visiting with the family. And had a nice Thanksgiving dinner. (Yummy)

We had plans to visit fellow blogger friend from life on the hilltop yesterday, but unfortunately CJ woke up throwing up and this continued for about 3-4 hours.  So hopefully our next visit (which I hope is soon) we can catch up with Hiltopper. I was really looking forward to it.

So today, I am not feeling too great. Not sure if I caught what CJ had or just feel blah. We are just hanging out at home, watching a movie or two and I will be catching up with everyone blogs from the past five days. I have missed A LOT!!!

I will post a few pictures later.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

                       turkey

Thankful Thursday...

Here are the top ten things I am thankful right at this moment.

1. my God
2. my family (husband and child)
3. my Mom (I honestly do not know what I would do with out her)
4. turkey (yum)
5. extended family that I can call and get away to, just to get a break from it all (Indiana family rules)  ;)
6. my bloggy family and friends. (you all may not be "family", but you sure feel like it)
7. holidays with family
8. having 28 wonderful years with my Dad (so many have less)
9. the simple things in life (a pillow to rest my head, a few extra dollars in the bank, awesome family & friends, yummy food to eat, etc)
10. my laptop (seems kinda lame, doesn't it?)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you all.

We are headed out

The hubs is home, showered and ready to go. So we will be on the road in about 10 minutes. (I hope) We are one hour past when I wanted to leave, yet one hour earlier than my absolute latest time we could leave.  :) That is good.

Everyone have a a safe, healthy, thankful, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

I am at this point still debating on whether to bring the laptop with me or not. I will see which option wins out at the last minute.

I will miss you all and think of you often if I chose to leave it behind.

HUGS

A pinch of this and a dash of that

CJ and I did another activity yesterday. It was mentioned about doing the hand print turkeys...well, my son refuses to agree to get "dirty", so painting his hands for the turkey body was out. So, I did the next best thing...I traced his hand.  ;) I am SO clever. (ha ha ha)

He actually enjoyed having his hand traced. "it "kickles" Mommy". I just love the word "kickles", so much cuter coming from him though.  Once we were done with the project we went on to do small duplicates in card fashion for everyone for Thanksgiving. Somehow though I managed to miss getting a picture of those and they are all tucked away now. Sorry. Maybe next time.

Here is a picture of the first project though. Oh we also used leaf stickers, bc what kind of a project would it really be with out stickers?

Collin-11-25-08 early Christmas 009

Yesterday we had lots of errands to do before leaving today for our Thanksgiving get-away. The hubby and I decided it would be a good time to go ahead and give CJ his early Christmas gift. You know the portable dvd player that we bought for him and us.  ;) Well, for our sanity really, for the long 4-5 hr drives we take several times a year. So, once month before Christmas and CJ has already gotten his "big" gift.

such a bad Mommy, I am...I did not even wrap it.  (oops) he did NOT care

Collin-11-25-08 early Christmas 004
he kept saying "hey Mommy, I saw this is my toy book" (toy book = Target toy catalog that came in the mail with coupons. He has carried that "toy book" around with his since it arrived, even taking it to bed with him. And always eager to show anyone who will look what ALL he wants out of it.)

The real test...will it keep him occupied?  Yes it is all day long while we ran our errands. And BONUS...he likes using the headphones over listening to it with out. (YES) Probably bc those headphones are so soft.
I highly recommend this product and I am not being paid to say that to you. ;)

This afternoon we are off to Indiana for five days. I am SO excited. I can not wait. Please keep us in your prayers today for a safe trip there and back (on Sunday/Monday)
I am hoping to be able to post while we are there. (I am bringing my laptop) I am not sure however if I will be or not. I can not remember if they have wireless service.

I am off now to have breakfast with my Mom and sister.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

Turkey Pumpkin? or Pumpkin Turkey?

CJ and I did a Thanksgiving "project". I have had these miniature pumpkins laying around since early October and finally decided to put them to some use. So we made turkeys out of them.

CJ had a good time. He finally got to use his kid scissors. Anything we would have done would have been ok with him as long as he could use those scissors.

On each of the "feathers" we (I) wrote "CJ is thankful for..." and then in crayon wrote something he told me his was thankful for. There are four feathers on our Turkey's because this year marks CJ's 4th Thanksgiving. It will also be the first Thanksgiving that we will actually be celebrating with family and on the actual day reserved.

Here are some pictures of our work.
Thanksgiving project 007
is it obvious that he does not get to use his scissors often? he wanted to "pose" with them.  ha ha ha

I am looking for more projects to do with CJ. He is 3 1/2 yrs. If you have any fun easy ideas for the holidays I would love to hear them. THANKS!!!

Have you heard this version?

Collin garbage truck and singing 001

CJ loves to sing. He always wants me to sing to him and I have a hard time remembering words to a lot of songs, just off the top of my head, so I stick to a few basic songs. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, You are My Sunshine and Skinny ma-rink. ( I have to say, I have NO clue how you spell that, sorry)

Lately I have heard CJ going through the house singing...here is his version of what I sing to him...

Twinkle little star,
how much I love you
So please take my sunshine
Sunshine a way.

Is that not hilarious?

I guess he has not figured out a way to incorporate Skinny Ma-rink into his version of the other two songs. So after he is done singing his song, he will ask me to sing him the "dinky dinky song".
I LOVE this age.

It was this day...

Two years ago this evening was the last time I had a two way conversation with my Dad. He had not been feeling well, just a little under the weather, nothing serious. Or so he (and we) thought.
My niece (who was 11 at the time) had a Thanksgiving day program at her school. (the 21st, two years ago was a tuesday and just two days before Thanksgiving) We all went. My Dad said he was feeling better so he came too. He was so excited that CJ was coming bc one of the Mom's that he had gotten to know through my nieces school (my Dad was the one to take my niece to and pick her up from school, so he knew most of the parents), was going to be there with her little girl that  was close to CJ's age. This woman and her husband along with my Dad as the ringleader, teased that CJ would be this babies boyfriend in the years to come.  My Dad was also VERY proud of his grandson...so he took every opportunity to show him off. (CJ was 19 months at this time)
After the program was over we talked for a few minutes, but Dad was tired and ready to go home. So we said our "Goodbyes" and all headed in our own directions. If only I would have know that in less than 24hrs, the world as my Dad knew it would be gone. And my sister and I would face the hardest time in our lives.

So today, I am a little sad. I know that it is selfish of me. Dad is in a better place, but even knowing that does not change the fact that I miss him MORE and MORE EVERY day that passes. My son will never remember  his Grandpa. And my Dad will not be here to see my son grow up. Rather he will have a front row seat watching from heaven.

I love you Dad (and I mean it).

we created monsters

CJ and I are playing while waiting on Daddy to come home for the evening. (it is a late one for him) (wah)
Here is one of the activities we did to pass the time.

Aren't these the neatest stickers ever? Similar to potato heads, which is favorite toy in our family. Don't you also love his "cheesin it up" smile? (with eyes closed)

He got these new jammies today and I would like to have a pair for myself. They are so soft and warm.

Yippee!!!

In case you did not read my update on my lost pictures, they have been restored.  YAY!!! Praise God, And THANK YOU to all of you Ladies for praying for their safe return. The only ransom that my laptop demanded was time. Hubby's employee did not do anything. They just showed back up, after being MIA for several days, as if nothing had happened.
I am so thankful. They are being backed up, saved to disc and uploaded to winkflash as I type this.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Mom
Happy Birthday to you
and MANY more

You guessed it, today is my Mom's birthday. She is 54 years young. How is she celebrating you ask??? By working!!! She has inventory at her store tonight. Tomorrow though she is going Christmas shopping with her hubby and then out to dinner and when they get home, my sister and the three of us will be there waiting to surprise her with a cake.
She will also celebrate next Sunday at our monthly family dinner at my step sister's house. We will celebrate my step sis' 23 bday, my Mom's 54th and my step brother's 20th that day. FUN FUN FUN!!!

Speaking of my step sister...she had her ultra sound yesterday. She is almost five months pregnant and is having another BOY. This is her second. She wanted another boy, but her son (4) and hubby wanted a girl. How exciting. I am so happy for them.  I can not wait for March to get here and meet my newest nephew.

Please say a prayer for my sister's husband. He was at work today and was drilling through something and slipped and drilled through his hand. I do not have all the details and my sister was not sure if he went all the way through his hand or just into it. His boss took him to the hospital and then he came home. He may have to have surgery and be off work for a month or two. His job does not offer short term disability and I don't think they have any insurance or anything like that. So please say a prayer for his speedy recovery and that he will be able to continue to work. Christmas is just around the corner. Now is not the time to be with out work or a paycheck.

Tonight my BFF from high school stopped over here and dropped off her Wii Fit for me to use this weekend. YAY!!! I am trying hers out to see if I like it enough to buy it for myself. I can not wait to set it up and get started.

We went to visit my Grandma today. This is the first time I have been to her house since August. (long story) It was nice to catch up. CJ had a blast. He sang for her and sat on her lap (which thrilled her), and ate some ice cream with her. It was a nice time.

Free $$$, well sort of. PJ's work normally pays two weeks late. So for work he did this week he would get paid for in two weeks. Well they decided to change it and pay just one week "late". So for work he did this week, he would get paid next week. YAY. So how did we get "free" money??? He got TWO checks this week. While technically this is not free money, he did work for it. It is more of an extra check now since he will still get paid next week and so on. And it helps, bc I have evil gnomes in my checking acct taking all my money.  Really I do, but this post is long enough, so that will have to wait for another day.

Happy Anniversary to Lisa (MY JOURNEY THROUGH INFERTILITY) and her husband Shawn. Today is their 5th Wedding Anniversary.

Thank You McCrakensx4

Ahhh, the sound of NOTHING!!!

PJ is home from work earlier than usual today, so he took CJ and they headed out to do some errands together. At the top of that list is getting CJ a much needed haircut. That leaves me home alone to listen to the quiet. I am enjoying it so much. Don't get me wrong, I love noise of a 3 yr old boy playing and talking, but sometimes it is nice to have a break.

I think I may curl up for a nap.
Everyone enjoy their afternoon.

*UPDATE* I know that this is trivial, but...

UPDATE*** THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU LADIES THAT SAID A PRAYER FOR MY PICTURES TO BE RESTORED. THEY ARE!!! PRAISE THE LORD. PRAYER WORKS, EVEN FOR THE SIMPLEST OF THINGS. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Tomorrow I will be backing them all up and uploading them ALL to my winkflash account AND saving them to disc again.

Could/would you all PLEASE say a prayer that my pictures can be retrieved from my computer. A guy that works for my husband is a self proclaimed computer nerd/genius and he is coming over tomorrow evening (I think) to look and see what he can do for me/us.

It just makes me sick that a entire year of pictures/memories of our lives could be gone. UGH!!!

THANK YOU GIRLS, you are the BEST!!!

Wordless Wednesday: Like Father, Like Son

I know this is WORDLESS wednesday, but for those who don't know my husband installs flooring for a living. This was taken when we were re-doing our spare bedroom. Just for the record, we no longer have that UGLY border on the walls. ;)

this & that

WoW, it has happened. I can think of nothing to blog about today. Hmmm...maybe I should GET A LIFE!!! ha ha ha I have tons I would like to get done today, but NO motivation to get started. The house is spik n span...so not cleaning today. Maybe a load of laundry to finish up. I have to pick my niece up from school/cheerleading this afternoon and take her home. Which reminds me that I HATE to drive in the dark. And with daylight savings ending it will be almost dark at that time. FUN. The hubs is working TWO HOURS away today. UGH. Makes for a long day for him and US. (me & CJ) We had a lady over last night from an insurance company to go over life insurance policies and possibly health insurance with us. UGH!!! Obviously I need maternity coverage, MOST women do right??? Well in order to get the maternity coverage it is $106.00 more EACH month and is NOT GOOD for the first year of coverage AT ALL. WHAT? Is that legal? I know it is, but come on...it is NOT right!!! After the first year of coverage you can use it, BUT it still does not cover everything and won't cover ALL maternity expenses until AFTER five years. Ummm...I am thinking I could just save $100 a month for five years and pay for my OWN expenses, I would not need the insurance then. DUH!!! Ok, so that would ONLY be $6000.00 but still. Did I just say DUH? Not sure if anyone remembers, but a few weeks back I bought a flag to put on my Dad's grave. He has a garden flag holder at the head of his grave. Anyway, the flag was green with a bear fishing on it and said Go Fish. (just to refresh your memory. So I took the flag out to the cemetery and struggled to get it on the holder bc it was such a tight fit, but I managed. This was about a month ago. This past week the three of us (hubby, son and I) went out to put some flowers on his grave and the flag was GONE!!! Who does something like that? Steals from a grave? From a cemetery? From the deceased? Come on!!! I was in tears. It stills makes my stomach turn to think about it. I am in the process of buying another one. PJ says to buy a few of them and we will just keep replacing it. The sad thing is...we think we might know who took it. You see, this is not the first time something has come up missing from out there. And it is ALWAYS the things I take out. Never is it something my sister or niece or Grandma takes out. Isn't that SAD? If the above was not bad enough...yesterday I was trying to post a picture on here of my award and discovered that ALL my pictures from 2008 were GONE. History. For whatever reason it says the folder was corupt. ??? No clue!!! I was able to retrieve a FEW of them from another location, but only a few...hundreds are still MIA. This makes me SICK!!! I cried for an hour yesterday over this. Today is Veteran's Day and as I sit here typing this I can here the bands playing in the parade. I want to THANK all the Veterans' out there for the hard work, dedication and service. You help(ed) to make this country what it is today. And it does not go un-noticed or un-appreciated. Not in this house anyway. THANK YOU!!!

I was tagged...x2

I feel so loved!!! I was tagged by Lisa @ MY JOURNEY THROUGH INFERTILITY and by Stacey @ McCrakensx4 . If you have not already you should check them both out. They are awesome women who LOVE the Lord. Thanks girls!!!
The rules are to list 15 things I am not ashamed to admit. And then tag a couple other bloggers to join in the fun. Let's see what I can come up with. ENJOY!!!
1. I love the Lord!
2. I miss my Dad, everyday!
3. I am afraid of dying before seeing my son (or any future children of mine) grow up.
4. I do not believe in divorce AT ALL.
5. I am still friends with half of my ex-boyfriends.
6. I only have two ex-boyfriends.
7. My husband and I "met" in high school, but were not friends. We sat next to one another in home room for two years. We ran into each other several years later while sharing most of the same friends at that point.
8. My heart breaks that my son will never remember/know my Dad.
9. My husband and I want to move, but do not want to leave our church, so we have opted from moving out of state TWICE for this reason. We LOVE our church family.
10. I wish I were more outgoing and not so shy. (this will shock some people)
11. I want to have a large family, but time is running out.
12. I also want to adopt a child.
13. I gave my cabbage patch doll a bath with out asking when I was little. She had to hang on the shower rod to dry for a week and still to this day has a huge water mark on her belly. My son (3.5) gave his plush Handy Manny doll a bath the same way. Manny bathed in the sun for a day and was OK.
14. I love my bed and could spend all day in it.
15. I did not know if I could some up with 15 things to post here.

Go check out all their blogs out. You won't be sorry.

Birthday Sleepover

It just occured to me that I never blogged about my sleepover. Sorry. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! I am sad to report that I did not take pictures. I am still kicking myself for this. I was running late due to an unexpected visit from a campaigner that would not leave, so I forgot to bring my camera down before the girls all arrived. Once they started getting here, we were laughing, joking, eating, re-living old memories, sharing new memories and stories, that I completely forgot. We ate and talked so much that we did not have time to watch a movie or play any games. It was a GREAT time though and I will not soon forget it.
We plan to get together once a month after the New Year for Girl's Night. FUN FUN FUN.
My best friend from high school and a good friend from elm school got together and made me a cd of songs from most years of my life. And a card with old pictures of the three of us on it.
We made some great memories and it was an awesome way to celebrate my 30 years.
My gifts included...
flowers and an American Express gift card
a large 30 balloon and memory cd, 30 sucks sucker and an "I don't want to grow up" necklace
a pumpkin candle and a Max & Erma gift card

Television

How much tv does your family watch?
Can you go with out the tv?
If so for how long?
I would like to say that we do not watch much tv, but after having to re-arrange things so that all could be recorded by the dvr and still having to watch a show in "real time", just to not miss anything, I came to the conclusion that we do watch TOO much tv.
The solution...I wish I could say that we would just not watch, but I have NO willpower, so that probably won't happen. So the hubs and I had a talk and decided that come 2009 we will turn our cable OFF. No more tv for house. I think this will bring us closer together as a couple and as a family and most importantly closer to the Lord.
Our church does small groups through out the week in various families homes. We are going to sign up for one or possibly host one of our own. We will also read more and do more outings together as a family. Possibly even get in a regular "date night" most weeks or at least once a month.
I am looking forward to it. We will no longer "submit" to our tv schedule/dvr, but submit to the Lord, as we should always do.
Are you working on any "New Year's resolutions"?

48 days to Christmas

PJ and I went Christmas shopping this past weekend. I am happy to report that we are DONE. Well, sort of. Since CJ was with us, we could not buy for him, but I do have a few things for him already. His "big" gift this year is a portable dvd player. While he wants one, this is more a gift for Mommy and Daddy. We make a lot of car trips through out the year and if CJ has a movie or something to watch, he is content. (is that selfish?) He will get his (kid tough, by fisher price, I think) dvd player earlier too, just in time for our Thanksgiving trip to Indiana. Besides our own 3 yr old son to buy for we have 11 other kiddos to get for. Ten of which are 5 and under. (can we say Baby Boom?) The 11th child is my niece, who just turned 13. She will receive a gift card to her favorite store, Aeropostle. The five and under crowd obviously is getting toys. The rest of the people we buy for are getting pictures. PJ's side of the family is getting a picture of all the grandkids. There are five of them and they have never had their picture taken together. That is scheduled to be done after Thanksgiving. My side of the family is getting a picture of the three of us. We have never had a family picture professionally done before. So this year, we are. Once these pictures are done, our Christmas "shopping" will be done. YAY!!! I think this will be a record for me. How about you?

A Date with My Husband

Today my Mom agreed to keep CJ, so that PJ and I could go on a date. The plans were set for us to go to church, then to lunch and then to the movies. Well it is nice to have a plan, but life does not always follow our plans. Hubby was not feeling well this morning and just after CJ left with my Mom it was decided that we would not be going to church. (he HATES missing church, so I thought this may put a damper on our day) We decided that we would go ahead and go to the earlier show and then do lunch and go to church this evening. Just reverse our plans.

So we headed out to see Fireproof. I have been waiting anxiously to see this movie. I have been very patient and it paid off. This is such a great movie. So much so that I am recommending it to our best friends who are 10 months into a nasty divorce. I am also buying them the book The Love Dare. I am not sure at this point it will do any good, but I feel that I am being led to do this. So who am I not to listen? If you have not seen the movie, do it for yourself and your marriage, whether it is a new marriage, old marriage, great marriage or rocky marriage.
You can watch a trailor for the movie here... www.fireproofthemovie.com After the movie we were going to go to lunch, but I noticed a Barnes & Noble just down from the theater. We do not have a good bookstore in our town, so we decided to check it out. I have been wanting the book written by the Gosselins. Multiple Blessings. I love the show Jon & Kate plus 8 on TLC. I found the book and since it was a new release it was 20% off. (go me) We were in Barnes and Noble for almost two hours. (oops) Books are addicting. We bought two books, a dvd that goes along with one of the books and a floor puzzle as a Christmas gift. I will be going back there FOR SURE. I think I spent 40 minutes in the kiddie section alone. They have story time and a play area there. We will be checking that out in the near future. We decided we will need to purchase a bookshelf (or two) before making any future trips back. Good thing it is 30 minutes from our home.
After our adventure in the bookstore we were off to my most favorite restaurant.
Don't they have the best food? And added bonus you can shop when you are done or while you wait to be seated. Unfortunately for me (fortunately for my bank acct), the only thing we purchased today was our meal. I did look around though which was as just as much fun. I had their yummy chicken salad and hubby had the french toast. (he always gets breakfast)
It was a great day and we decided that we need to have more "us" time. For the first three years of CJ's life he stayed with no one, but us over night and seldom went with anyone else unless we were along too. Can you say over protective Mom? This past July he had his first sleepover at my Mom's with my nephew. He has since stayed with my Mom five more times. He loves going there and she loves having him. So I think we will take advantage. You never know will baby number 2 is going to come along and it will not be so easy to get "mawkle" (pronouced ma cole) (which is what CJ calls my Mom) to watch them both at the same time.

Halloween Costume Parade

Today Becky over at Boys Rule My Life is hosting a costume parade. I thought this was such a fun idea, I decided to join in. That and I just thought CJ looked so darn cute that I wanted everyone to see him (again). ha ha ha ha
To check out more little ones in their costumes go visit Becky's blog ( Boys Rule My Life ).
Now with out further ado... CJ (aka fireman) He tells me he is NOT a fire chief because on all of his fire truck dvds the fire chief's have mustaches. So he is just a fireman and oh so PROUD to be one.
standing in his bedroom in front of his fire house tent his trick or treat "bag" was his firetruck Easter basket

a view from the back, to see his "oxygen tank" back pack in "action" trick or treating
