Television

How much tv does your family watch?
Can you go with out the tv?
If so for how long?
I would like to say that we do not watch much tv, but after having to re-arrange things so that all could be recorded by the dvr and still having to watch a show in "real time", just to not miss anything, I came to the conclusion that we do watch TOO much tv.
The solution...I wish I could say that we would just not watch, but I have NO willpower, so that probably won't happen. So the hubs and I had a talk and decided that come 2009 we will turn our cable OFF. No more tv for house. I think this will bring us closer together as a couple and as a family and most importantly closer to the Lord.
Our church does small groups through out the week in various families homes. We are going to sign up for one or possibly host one of our own. We will also read more and do more outings together as a family. Possibly even get in a regular "date night" most weeks or at least once a month.
I am looking forward to it. We will no longer "submit" to our tv schedule/dvr, but submit to the Lord, as we should always do.
Are you working on any "New Year's resolutions"?

Girl,

That is awesome. I have a friend who doesn't even have a TV in her house. Good for her. My kids watch about 1 hour a day. Kolby at naptime, while I make dinner and then maybe a show before bed. I do not watch anything...I am better with it off. MY husband would have it on 24/7. Bugs me to death. HE is mostly news and sports.
Halee loves the cooking channel and the clean house.
No resolutions for us.

Kelly, that's great! I know you will be blessed with that extra quality time.

Sometimes I think Jason and I watch too much tv. Thank goodness for DVR! Now I just think I'm on the computer too much. Ha!

I have always had a rule of no tv in our bedroom. It's great! We only have one tv in our home, and I hope to keep it that way.

No New Years Res. yet. I haven't had much time to think about one yet, but I'm sure I will. I love to have goals!

I wish I had your will power, but we are tv junkies. I love reality tv and the boys are all over the sports channels. I hope it works for you!

Found you over on Keli's blog and thought I would stop by and say hi.

How awesome!!! I wish that's the way it could be in our house. But the man is devoted to all things Political and Sports!!!! So much so that he has my 10 yr old involved. But the boy would definitely rather be outside playin which is music to my ears.

I love your banner picture it's so very cute!!!

we nixed the cable a couple of months ago and honestly, i RARELY miss it. we do still watch dvds and movies but it is nice. now whenever we go somewhere where there is a tv on just for noise it makes me feel anxious so there are side effects.

I think Josh and I are gility of having the tv on just to have it on. Even if I'm not watching it I have it on in the living room for noise. That seems so silly! Latley, I have tried to keep our tv on the Christian music XM radio station. At least it's good "noise" that I'm listening to!

We do not have a tv in our bedroom. It's something that I hope continues throughout our marriage. I think that helps us not watch too much tv as well!

We are TV watchers but I wouldn't say we watch to much. M watched a movie today and it hasn't been on other than those 2 hours. I love it! But I gotta say I love The Style Channel..gotta watch me some Clean House!

Good for you though! We don't really make New Year's resolutions here at the Young's. Have a great weekend!
